Experience
Years spent on site, behind the estimating desk and in supplier negotiations. The advice comes from projects that were actually built, not from theory.

BuildPlan exists because most construction problems are decided long before anyone lifts a tool — in a drawing, a quote or a programme that nobody checked.
Big developers employ quantity surveyors, buyers and project managers. Everyone else is expected to run a build on evenings and weekends, with quotes they have no way of comparing.
BuildPlan gives self builders, homeowners and small developers the same support on the parts that decide whether a project lands on budget: what it should cost, what the quotes really say, what to buy and when, and whether the work on site matches what was priced. Some clients need a single call. Others need a tender run from first pack to award. Both are worth doing properly.
The same thinking sits behind the guides and project tools in the shop. They are the templates and checklists we use ourselves, written up so you can pick up the work yourself where a full advisory service would be more than a project needs.
Years spent on site, behind the estimating desk and in supplier negotiations. The advice comes from projects that were actually built, not from theory.
Every estimate, tender pack and checklist is written to be used on a real job. No jargon, no reports that sit unread in a drawer.
Independent of contractors, merchants and manufacturers. We take no commission from anyone we recommend, so the numbers you get are the numbers.
We take on a limited number of projects at a time. You deal with the person doing the work, and you get an answer the same week you ask.

Drawings and spreadsheets only tell you so much. Ground conditions, access, what the neighbouring build cost and how a contractor actually works — those come from being there. Our patch is Northern Ireland, UK & Republic of Ireland — stage inspections, snagging visits and pre-tender walkarounds on site, with everything that doesn’t need boots handled remotely.
“Practical advice. Better builds.”
